Who Are Console?

Console was established in 2002 by Paul Kelly after he had experienced the grief of losing a loved one by Suicide. Through his loss, Paul recognised a need for a dedicated Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Postvention Service.

Since then Console has developed into a International Organisation supporting people in Suicidal Crisis and those Bereaved by Suicide through Professional Counselling, Support and Helpline Services.

Console currently operates in both the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Suicide Prevention One Day Training Programme

Question, Persuade, Refer

One Day Programme

QPR is a suicide prevention training program that stands for Question, Persuade and Refer.

Three simple steps that anyone can quickly learn to help save a life from suicide.

People considering suicide often feel very isolated and alone. They may feel that nobody can help them or understand their pain. When unable to see any other way of dealing with pain, suicide may seem to be a way out.

Recognising the warning signs of suicide and learning the skills to help save a life is something that everyone should learn.

Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognise the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help.

As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:
  • Recognise the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer Hope
  • Know how to offer Help and save a life

A Gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognise a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be con-templating suicide. Gatekeepers include health care professionals, parents, friends, neighbours, teachers, doctors, nurses, priests, work colleagues, gardaí, case-workers, and many others who are strategically posi-tioned to recognise and refer someone at risk of sui-cide.

All participants will receive QPR Gatekeeper Certificate awarded by The QPR Institute
